Privacy policy
Effective November 3, 2026
This policy covers the Roadlark app and the roadlark.com website (together, “Roadlark”). Roadlark is made by Bushwick Labs, LLC (“Bushwick Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect the information you give us when you sign up, create an account, or send us feedback. We also collect some technical information, such as crash reports, so we can fix problems and improve Roadlark.
- With your permission, the app uses your precise location only while it’s open or a drive is running. After a drive ends, the app automatically saves the trip log, including your route, to your account on our servers, so we can investigate and fix any issues.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites.
What we collect when you sign up
When you sign up on our website, we collect:
- your first name, if you give it, and your email address;
- whether you have an iPhone or an Android phone;
- the drives you pick, your trip dates, and any route you type in;
- your time zone, from your browser, and the link that brought you to our site, such as a friend’s link or a post.
Like most websites, our host automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address, your browser, and the pages you visit.
What the app collects
Your account. When you sign in, we get your email address, and your name if you give it.
Location. With your permission, Roadlark uses your phone’s precise location while the app is open and while a drive is running, including in the background, so it can play the right narration at the right place.
Trip log. While a drive is running, the app records a trip log: your route and speed, when and where each piece of narration played, and how the app ran, such as pauses, audio interruptions, GPS accuracy, and errors. After the drive ends, the app automatically saves the trip log to your account on our servers, so we can check that narration played in the right places and investigate and fix any issues with the app experience.
Crash reports. If the app crashes, Apple may send us a crash report. It does this automatically if you’re testing through TestFlight, and otherwise only if you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone’s Settings. The report shows details such as what the app was doing, your device model, and your iOS version, so we can fix the problem. It doesn’t include your precise location.
TestFlight. If you test Roadlark through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple shares some information with us: your name and email address, if we invited you by email; your device model and iOS version; crash reports; how often you open the app; and any feedback or screenshots you send through TestFlight. Apple’s privacy policy covers what Apple collects.
Feedback. We keep the feedback you send us in the app, by email, in a survey, or when we talk. We use it to improve Roadlark and to decide who gets the free year. We may also quote it in our marketing, but we won’t use your name without your permission.
How we use it
- to choose early testers, set you up, and run your account;
- to email you about Roadlark: early access, our launch, and Android access when it’s ready;
- to decide which drives to make next;
- to fix problems and make Roadlark better;
- to keep Roadlark secure, prevent misuse, comply with the law, and enforce our terms.
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising or share it with advertisers. We also don’t use it to train large language models or to make automated decisions that significantly affect you.
Who we share it with
We share personal information with service providers that help us run Roadlark, such as providers of hosting, data storage, and email. We may also use third-party AI tools to review this information and improve Roadlark. All of these companies and tools must protect your information at least as well as this policy does.
We may also share personal information with your consent; to comply with the law, legal process, or a government request; to enforce our terms or protect anyone’s rights, property, or safety; or in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our assets, in which case this policy still applies to it.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up answers until you ask us to delete them. We keep your account information, trip logs, and in-app feedback until you delete your account, or for less time if we no longer need them. We keep other feedback and crash reports only as long as we need them to improve Roadlark. We may keep some information longer where we need to comply with the law, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, or honor an unsubscribe request, and copies may stay in backups for a limited time.
Emails from us
We email you about your sign-up and early access, and we may also email you about our launch, the free year, and Android access. Every marketing email identifies Roadlark, includes our postal address, and has an unsubscribe link. We honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, and we may still send you messages about your account or a drive you’ve signed up to test.
Your choices
- You can delete your account in the app. That deletes your account and the information linked to it, including trip logs and in-app feedback, except what we keep as described in “How long we keep it.”
- Email us at [email protected] to see, correct, or delete the personal information we have about you, including your sign-up answers, or to get a copy of it in a portable format. We may need to confirm your identity first. We’ll reply within 30 days. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we’ll respond within 60 days. If we deny your appeal, you can contact your state attorney general.
- You can turn off Roadlark’s location access in your iPhone’s Settings at any time. Roadlark can’t play drives without it.
- Deleting the app deletes the trip logs on your phone, but not the ones saved to your account. To delete those, delete your account or email us.
We don’t track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites, and we don’t let advertisers or other companies do so through Roadlark. Our site works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Children
Roadlark isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No way of storing or sending data is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee its security.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy at any time. Changes take effect when we post them here with a new effective date.
